Stunning Display, Clean Aesthetic

Flush-mounted 85"+ displays that look built into the wall, not bolted onto it. All equipment hidden in a ventilated closet or rack — no visible boxes, no cable clutter. One Tap. Movie Night.

Control4 dims the lights to your preset, sets the audio to surround mode, and launches your streaming app — all from a single tap. Say "Game Night" and the room switches to the PS5 or Xbox input, engages 4K 120Hz low-latency mode on the display, routes audio through surround for competitive positional sound, and brightens the lights to a playable level. Every scene is tailored to what you're doing — movie, music, sports, or gaming.

Large-Format Display Installation

Big Screen, Beautiful Room

We specify and install premium large-format displays — 75" to 98"+ — with flush or recessed mounting that looks architectural, not aftermarket. Proper wall blocking, cable management behind the wall, and ventilated equipment closets keep everything invisible. Samsung Frame, LG Gallery, and Sony Bravia lifestyle displays turn your TV wall into art when it's off.

  • Flush-mounted and recessed 85"–98" displays with zero-gap wall integration
  • Concealed in-wall cable management with dedicated conduit runs
  • Samsung Art TV and lifestyle display modes for when the TV is off
  • Professional calibration for accurate color and HDR performance

In-Ceiling Surround Sound

Immersive Audio, Invisible Speakers

Premium in-ceiling and in-wall speaker systems deliver Dolby Atmos surround sound without a single visible speaker box or stand. We design speaker layouts specifically for open floor plans and multi-purpose rooms — optimizing coverage patterns so the couch, dining area, and kitchen island all get balanced, immersive audio.

  • Dolby Atmos in-ceiling height channels for true overhead 3D audio
  • In-wall LCR speakers with paintable grilles that disappear into your décor
  • Invisible subwoofers mounted in walls, floors, or furniture for deep bass
  • Open floor plan audio engineering — no dead spots, no hot spots

Hidden Equipment & Wire Management

Clean Walls, Zero Clutter

Every cable, receiver, streaming box, and game console lives in a ventilated equipment closet or behind-wall rack — completely out of sight. We run dedicated conduit, install HDMI-over-IP distribution for multi-room setups, and ensure your media wall looks like it was designed by your architect, not your IT department.

  • HDMI-over-IP distribution for multi-zone and multi-room AV
  • Dedicated electrical circuits for AV equipment with surge protection

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a media room and a home theater ?
A home theater is a dedicated, light-controlled room built specifically for cinematic viewing — typically with projection, acoustic treatment, and theater seating. A media room is a multi-purpose living space (living room, bonus room, great room) with premium AV integrated into a room you use every day. Media rooms prioritize versatility — they're designed for movies, music, gaming, sports, and casual living without requiring a separate dedicated space. We design both, and can help you determine which approach fits your home and lifestyle best.
How much does a media room setup cost?
Media room costs vary based on display size, audio system complexity, equipment hiding requirements, and automation integration. A quality media room with a premium 75"–85" display, in-ceiling surround sound, and hidden equipment typically starts around $15,000–$25,000. Mid-range setups with larger displays, Dolby Atmos, and full Control4 integration generally run $25,000–$50,000. Premium installations with 98"+ displays, invisible speakers, distributed audio, and whole-home integration start at $50,000 and up. During your free consultation, we discuss your goals honestly so you can make an informed decision.
Can I keep my room multi-purpose after the AV install?
Absolutely — that's the entire point of a media room versus a dedicated theater. We design systems that enhance your living space without dominating it. In-ceiling speakers are invisible. Equipment is hidden in closets. Displays can show art when off. Control4 scenes let you switch between "Movie Night" and "Dinner Party" in one tap. Your room remains fully functional for daily life — entertaining, relaxing, working from home — with premium AV available whenever you want it.
Do in-ceiling speakers work well in open-concept floor plans?
Yes, but they require careful design. Open floor plans present unique acoustic challenges — sound dissipates into adjacent areas, reflections from hard surfaces create echo, and bass can be uneven. We use directional in-ceiling speakers to focus audio on the listening area, place invisible subwoofers strategically for even bass distribution, and can design hybrid systems that combine a soundbar for direct dialogue with in-ceiling surrounds for immersion. The key is engineering the system for your specific room geometry, not using a one-size-fits-all layout.
What size TV do you recommend for a media room?
Screen size depends on viewing distance. The general rule for 4K content is 1.5× the screen diagonal as your seating distance. For a typical 10-foot viewing distance, an 85" display is ideal. At 12 feet, you can go 98"+. For rooms where the seating is closer (8 feet), a 75" display works perfectly. We always recommend the largest display your room and budget can support — nobody has ever said "I wish we went smaller." We assess your specific room dimensions and seating layout to recommend the optimal size.
Soundbar vs. surround sound — which is better for my room?
For most media rooms, a proper surround system with in-ceiling speakers significantly outperforms even the best soundbar. Soundbars simulate surround using processing tricks, while real in-ceiling speakers place audio where it's supposed to be — behind you, beside you, above you. That said, in some open floor plans where full surround isn't practical, we design hybrid systems: a premium soundbar handles front-stage audio while in-ceiling surrounds provide immersion. We'll assess your room layout and recommend the approach that delivers the best real-world result.
Can you set up a media room for serious gaming (PS5, Xbox, PC)?
Absolutely — gaming is one of the most common use cases in a modern media room. We specify displays with full HDMI 2.1 support (4K at 120Hz, VRR, and ALLM) so PS5, Xbox Series X, and gaming PCs run at their native frame rates with automatic low-latency mode. We route audio through surround for accurate positional sound in competitive titles, hide consoles inside the same ventilated equipment rack as the rest of your AV (with always-on wired networking for lag-free online play), and build a one-tap Control4 "Game Mode" scene that preconfigures the display, receiver, and lighting for whichever console or player is up. If you want a dedicated gaming chair, secondary display for streaming, or multi-console rack with seamless switching, we design for that too.
What do I need for 4K 120Hz gaming on my TV?
Three things have to line up: a display with HDMI 2.1 inputs rated for 4K 120Hz (most current flagship OLEDs and Mini-LED TVs from Samsung, LG, and Sony qualify), a receiver or soundbar that passes HDMI 2.1 signals through without downgrading them, and certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cables rated for 48Gbps. A lot of frustrating gaming setups come from a single weak link — a cable, splitter, or older AVR — that quietly drops the signal to 60Hz or 4:2:0 chroma. We spec the full chain end-to-end, enable ALLM and VRR in the display settings, and verify 4K 120Hz HDR is actually reaching the screen before we call the install complete.
How does Control4 integrate with a media room?
As a Control4 Gold Dealer, we integrate your media room into your whole-home system. Control4 creates activity-based scenes: "Movie Night" turns on the display, sets the receiver to surround mode, dims Lutron lights, lowers motorized shades, and launches your streaming app — all from one tap on your phone, remote, or voice command. "Music" switches to distributed audio. "Game Night" flips the display to 4K 120Hz gaming mode, switches to your PS5 or Xbox, routes audio through surround, and brightens the lights to a playable level. The same app that controls your media room also controls your lights, locks, cameras, and climate throughout the home.
How long does a media room installation take?
A standard media room with display mounting, in-ceiling speakers, and hidden equipment typically takes 2–4 days for installation. More complex projects with in-wall construction, multiple zones, or extensive Control4 programming may take 1–2 weeks. New construction or major renovation projects where we're involved from the pre-wire stage are coordinated with your builder's timeline. We provide detailed project schedules during proposal so you know exactly what to expect before work begins.
