SolarShield or SiteShield - which one do I need?
If you have AC power on site (an outlet, a meter, or shore power on a trailer), SiteShield is the simplest option - plug it in and it's online. If you don't have power and running it is impractical, SolarShield is purpose-built for off-grid deployment, with sufficient battery reserve to keep cameras online through extended overcast periods.
How long can SolarShield run without sun?
Backup runtime depends on the model - Mini 2–3 days, Standard 3–4 days, and MAX 7+ days on a single charge. We size battery and panel capacity during the site survey based on local sunlight, latitude, and how many cameras the unit is recording 24/7.
What's included in the monthly price?
Hardware, the Turing CORE AI software licence, a multi-carrier 4G SIM and data plan, package warranty, and MK Technology onboarding and support. There's a one-time $2,500 setup charge that covers site survey, configuration, install labour, and handover. No additional licence fees during the term.
Can I use my existing Axis cameras with the Shield range?
Yes. Both SiteShield and SolarShield offer Axis Base configurations that natively integrate Axis cameras alongside Turing analytics. We can carry over an existing camera fleet and bring it into the Vision Platform without ripping it out.
What temperature range will the units operate in?
All Shield enclosures are rated -30°C to +60°C and built to NEMA 3R weatherproofing. Self-heating and integrated thermostat fans handle the cold-snap and heatwave extremes. They've been deployed in everything from snow-belt utilities to Lowcountry humidity without issue.
How does descriptive alerting reduce false positives?
Traditional motion alerts trigger on any pixel change - wind, rain, animals, headlights. The Shield range applies AI on the edge, classifying what it actually sees (person, vehicle, plate, behaviour) and writes a short natural-language description so your team can decide in seconds whether to act, ignore, or share. Most clients see false-alert volume fall dramatically inside the first month.
Is there a contract?
Yes. There's a 12-month minimum term on the lease, after which the agreement continues month-to-month or rolls into a longer term at your option. Hardware, AI software, 4G connectivity, and warranty are bundled into the monthly subscription for the duration.
How quickly can MK Technology have us live?
From signed proposal to live cameras typically runs 2–4 weeks depending on hardware availability and site readiness. Once on site, the actual install is hours, not days - by design. We then commission the AI rules and watchlists with your team before walking off site.
